Preferred Applications:
Macromedia Freehand, Adobe Illustrator, QuarkXpress, Adobe Photoshop

Setting Up Colors:
Use the Pantone Color Matching System for spot colors, or supply a sample of color if you're trying to match something specific.

Be sure any color scanned images are in CMYK!

Be sure that all images or separate files that are applied to the final label use the same name for any identical colors, or they will be treated as individual colors.

Remove all unused colors from final document.

Text:
Regular type should be no smaller than 3 pt. for legibility. Reverse type must be bold.

FONTS:
Please include all parts of fonts when submitting job (postscript and printer fonts, or truetype fonts), or convert them to paths.

Placing Graphics Files:
When placing scanned images on a label, make sure that you scan them at least twice the desired resolution and at the actual size needed (for example: Scan the image at 300 dpi and at the final dimensions you intend to use them. This will help make hard objects look sharp and colors look smooth.

FILE FORMAT FOR IMAGES:

The format for these images can be .tif or .eps

Do not:
Scan at 300 dpi and enlarge the image in your layout program 200%. Also do not grab images off of the web and try to use them. The resolution is usually only 72 dpi and it will not print well). Do not embed scanned images to the final document. Send the actual scanned image. This way if we need to adjust for dot gain or correct the file for any reason we can.

DO NOT use L ZW compression on your TIFF files, it will cause processing errors.

  • DO NOT save Photoshop EPS files with JPEG encoding.

  • DO NOT send Photoshop separation files.

  • DO NOT send Photoshop Duotones.

  • Photoshop files cannot be saved with extra channels or layers.

  • If you use gradient fills in Illustrator 5.0 or 5.5 files, resave them as 3.0 EPS files.

Trapping:
Trapping will be done by us. The specifications for this vary from job to job.

Maximum size of final output:
The size of the final document should be no larger than 11.7Ó x 17.2Ó
